Remembering Lottie Miss

It is with heavy hearts that we report that Lottie Fullerton, a medical student at Oxford and a volunteer at HVP Central and Thali schools in Summer 2017, was killed in a landslide whilst trekking in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Her death was reported on the BBC and HVP Central's Principal Vishnu Dangi gives his poignant tribute to Lottie below. A very sad time for everyone involved with HVP, both in Nepal and in the UK, and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Lottie’s family, friends and fellow 2017 volunteers.

Everyone at the HVP Schools is extremely shocked to hear the tragic and heart-breaking news of the untimely death of our dearest friend Lottie Fullerton.

Lottie, 22, was a fourth-year medical student at Jesus College, University of Oxford, and volunteered at both the HVP Central and HVP Thali schools through TravelAid this summer. Whilst trekking in the Mustang region in Nepal, she sustained head injuries due to some fallen rocks and has tragically passed away. Lottie was a great friend and a wonderful volunteer teacher of HVP. Friends and teachers at HVP remembered that she enjoyed every moment of her time at schools and loved the children above anything else. Her selfless contribution to HVP schools is beyond words. She won the hearts of everyone with her smile, love, dedication and support.

All of us at HVP schools are devastated by this awful news and send our warmest, deepest condolences to her bereaved family. We cannot imagine how unbearable their loss and pain must be. Though Lottie is not with us physically, she will always be in our hearts. We will always treasure every wonderful moment we spent with her. She will be hugely missed by everyone who knew her.

Vishnu Bhakta Dangi, Principal, HVP Central
