HVP Walk and Curry Saturday 3rd September
Namaste everyone!
We hope you have been enjoying the warm summer and maybe even looking forward to cooler temperatures and a drop more rain in the UK. Those of you in Nepal, on the other hand, are no doubt looking forward to the winding down of the monsoon season, the arrival of clear skies and the start of prime trekking conditions.
On which note, HVP Nepal-UK is planning a walk around Kingston-upon-Thames in two weeks' time, on Saturday 3rd September. We will be meeting at Kingston Bridge at 11am. Our trekking guide will be HVPN-UK chairman himself, Matt Larsen-Daw, who will be leading us along the banks of the Thames and then back through Bushey Park, all the while feeding us interesting facts about the wildlife of London and Nepal. The 'teahouse' at the end of the trek will be Monty's Restaurant where we have booked a table for lunch at 1pm for a taste of both traditional and modern Nepali cuisine. It will also be a chance to meet the HVPN-UK committee, find out more about our work in Nepal and potentially get involved!
The walk will be a great way to kickstart some fundraising sponsorship, both as a team and individually starting our World Walking virtual route - (https://worldwalking.org/) - through Nepal that we would aim to complete by Christmas.
Plan for the day:
11am: Meet on the West side of Kingston Bridge, at the top of Barge Walk (https://goo.gl/maps/yvMxdnzh9y65hgeN7)
11am-1pm: Guided walk along the river and back through Bushy Park, with facts about trees and wildlife of London and Nepal
1pm: Curry at Monty's (https://goo.gl/maps/PLG37C9FfB6p3Fcs8) https://www.montyskingston.co.uk/
3pm: Committee meeting over coffee in Kingston (if any discussion not covered over the walk and curry!)
Do drop us a line if you're coming at hvpnuk@gmail.com - we would love to see as many supporters as possible in person after over two years of online meetings, so come join us for a memorable day when Nepal comes to Kingston-upon-Thames!
